Word Wednesday

I like the practice of wearing the words that mean the most. Attached to the sterling ring of 'patience' which connects to the silk cord, is a page from the Barbour's Daughters line of silver charms and jewelry. The tag reads 'of meaning and purpose'. It is joined by a tiny Buddha - also from her collection. This is a piece I created for myself, and while I may reattach it to a chain later, it will match one of my favourite fall wardrobe colours for this season. I call it warm tobacco  and it goes well with black and navy which are a mainstay for me in the legging department.

Manic Monday

Of the hundreds of images I loved and pinned today - (studies will soon show that Pinterest is addictive), it is this image that created a stir for me. Almost simultaneously, I began humming the old 80's tune ..... just another manic Monday .... Cheers dears!

So Long Summer

The fall of 2012 has officially arrived, and with it a welcome change in the daily temperatures. I always embrace the shift from sultry, tropical air to the energizing whiff of  crisp and cool that invites me outside to play all the live long day.
This painting was my favourite accomplishment of the summer lineup as it immediately evokes childhood memories of visits to Wasaga Beach. There was a time when there was so much white sand, that two lanes of vehicles could drive along the shore and still leave plenty of play area for families and sunbathers....... and those were the good old days if ever they existed!
Cheers dears.

Go West

If majestic mountain scenes, emerald/acqua lakes and surprise snowfalls are on your bucket list, head west dear friends to the Canadian Rocky Mountains and you will not be disappointed. The Chateaux Fairmont
Lake Louise and The Banff Springs Hotels are grand old iconic nods to the accommodations of yesteryear and today, but it's the setting and surrounding trails and outdoor activities that speak to the lifestyle of the young demographic upon which the service industry depends. While we opted for more countrified log cabins set in the woods between these two landmarks,  we still enjoyed a sampling of their culinary expertise - albeit pricey.
Had we waited just one more week to go west, I fear the show of summer florals we photographed so frequently would have all but vanished.

Soft Sunday

Hello lovelies.
I have returned from the wild west with numerous photos, and fond memories of Canada's Rocky Mountains. It will take a few days to settle in and upload photos, but in the meantime, a nod to the furry kids in my home and yours.

Photo Friday

Every time I ever took a photography course, I learned that there is always more to learn about the art of photography. I have forgotten more than I ever learned about dark room techniques and F stops, but relearning has gotten as easy as it's going to get with YouTube how-to videos and Pinterest pins. Go to my Studio Board to see what I mean ..... p.s. you'll need to click on the image below to see the today's lesson in lighting. Click on my Pinterest button for even more inspiration!

New Word Wednesday

The latest release of the Merriam-Webster dictionary includes numerous entries from today's vernacular.
Most of these need no defining at all - unless of course you've been hiding under a giant rock for the past few years ..... among the self-explanatory words, we have f-bomb, sexting, game changer, gassed, gastropub, earworm, aha moment, bucket list, cloud computing and copernicium - which I had no idea was a short- lived artificially produced radioactive element that has 112 protons..... duh.

Tutu Tuesday

You don't have to have babies or grand babies to appreciate the wonder of a yard of tulle that's been turned into a tutu. While these would be a great fundraising tool for any children's dance program, it's their potential to transform a  little one into a world of greatness and make believe. Stretch your imagination this week and do something creative.
