Transformation Tuesday

As the late and great warrior chieftain 'JC Kitty' once said,
"Embrace and honour your path and your potential. Listen carefully to the needs of your body, mind and spirit for they are your greatest teacher, highest guide, and most powerful healer."

Silent Sunday and Sacred Geometry

Each of these bird collages features a different geometric symbol, representing energy, growth, truth and wisdom respectively from top to bottom. For unknown reasons, I have returned to these ancient and sacred symbols with renewed interest. With roots in the study of nature, mathematics, cosmology and modern science, sacred geometry somehow helps to prove the theory of metaphysical oneness - the interconnectedness of all creations in the universe.  Whether it is the hexagonal cells created by honey bees, or the perfect chambers of the nautilus shell, there is evidence of perfection in design, pattern and structure. Artists and architects have for years been mindful to include these same sacred universal forms that are also found in light and music. Leonardo da Vinci drew geometric figures with the fundamental measure known as the 'golden mean' or the 'golden ratio.'  The sphere is the ultimate expression of unity, integrity and completeness. The circle - a 2-D shadow of the sphere is the icon of oneness and wholeness. To know and appreciate the symbolic value of certain shapes, numbers or creatures is to understand our intuitive attraction to them. I find it reassuring to know there is science instead of madness behind my obsession with things like birds, pears, circles, crosses, ladders, bowls etc. etc. If you share my intrigue, check out Crystalinks.com, sacred-geometry.com and Crystal-life.com.

The story behind the art ...

I attended a wonderful art show a few weeks ago, and came home with these two prizes - to add to my growing collection of works by Holly Hambrick. Holly continues to embrace and to share her colorful story  - that of growing up the black sheep amongst a herd of gypsies ..... she's a truth teller, a pioneer,
and a warrior with intuitive connections and an open heart. When I saw the little dress, and learned that as a child, she had loved to climb trees, I knew she was a kindred spirit. I too spent countless hours climbing and swinging from  two great pine trees at my childhood home. I wore sap stains on the back of my legs as proof of time spent being one with the smell of fresh pine and the gift it is to live near a wooded area.
As for Cowgirl Rules.... They tell the truth .... Cry when they need to ....Are true to their partners .....
Ride fast .....  and Shoot straight. I would say that covers all the important matters in life. Happy Trails folks. Enjoy your weekend.

Wednesday's Wine Picks

For several years I worked at and or have attended the Aspen Food and Wine event. My interest in drinking wine dates back to my late teens where in Canada the legal age is 19. Winemakers are a creative and enthusiastic bunch, so my interest in discovering new varietals has been influenced by visits to vineyards, wine-maker meals and the general excitement about trying something new, and just loving it. As a visual learner, the keeping of a wine journal has helped me recall my favorites by the art on the labels. Sometimes I purchase a wine because I like the art, and even that has worked out pretty well for me. By now you're probably thinking I haven't met a  wine I didn't like. Just to clarify, my most current preference in whites is pinot gris from Oregon, and gruner veltliner from Austria - the cute label with the upside-down deer in the top photo shows one we ordered recently at a wonderful restaurant in Naples called Seasons 52.     Cheers dears!

Photo Finish Tuesday

I just visited Fiona and Twig, and was swept away by some breathtaking photos. These are actually photos I took last spring at the Brimfield Flea market, but click here for a fabulous photo journey by a talented and published photographer. Happy Tuesday to all.

Every once in a while I'm reminded of how patient I usually am. I wonder sometimes that a little less patience would produce a lot more results at the end of the day. I would rather err on the side of not elevating my blood pressure or needlessly wasting energy that could be put to creative use.

What I didn't learn in my three hour photoshop class today will hopefully put me in the mood for independent study .... something I need to embrace much more than I have. I'm not good with frustration, so I like to be shown how things work. I'm going to work on
this ...... hope you had a happy day!

Silent Sunday

For many who make attempts at a formal meditation practice, there is simply so much mental chatter going on that the moments of clarity are few and fleeting.  The folks at "Meditation Express" suggest that you imagine a rushing mountain stream flowing through your mind. Every time a new thought enters, you throw it into the stream and watch it float away. In my case, the power of fleeting thoughts can trump the visualization, so when I rediscovered these 'memory pouches' I had made some time ago, I wondered if holding onto something tangible and visualizing the distracting thoughts going straight into the pouch might aid my efforts. Alas, my attempts at meditation are so fleeting, that I haven't tried putting this into practice yet. In my own defence, I found the perfect quote to support my failings.

"I was trying to daydream, but my mind kept wandering." - Stephen Wright.

Friday's Prize

NEW RUBBER! ..... And I hope I never grow up...... the day I don't get excited about getting mail - especially snail mail from good friends - well let's just say, I would have to be in a coma to not get all jazzed when goodies arrive in the mail. Of course I help the situation along while living in the States because an Etsy order can be here in about two days flat! Now that's mail 'schwing' - no pun intended!
This order came from redleadpaperworks.com.

Wednesday Wisdom

Today's spontaneous quote is inspired by the look of terror and gloom on the male subject's face in this photograph. To help him take the knot out of his face and unlock his rigidity, I would suggest the following: "Find the energy flow of NOW with a ride on the wave of EASE."  Namaste friends.

Flower Play

I am now in Photoshop kindergarten - where I will probably stay for a very long time. It's time to move beyond the very minimal adjustments I know how to make on images before I post them. When the going gets tough, I'll just hand the project over to my daughter, Danielle who is an absolute whiz on her Mac. As a graphic artist who has ended up a full time visual artist, you will see the scope of her commission work when you visit her website - Daniellehession.com

Silent Sunday

While the year still feels very new, there's a lingering sense that there's still time to reboot, re-align or re- calibrate your direction and goals. As I get older (and hopefully wiser) the idea of 'ritual' takes on more meaning and plays a bigger role in the flow of each day. For instance, a morning exercise outing is a must if I want my brain to function at all during the day. While spontaneity and A.D.D. are my main guides, I do find comfort in a few more mindful touches - once the minutia and mini meals are out of the way and it's finally time to sit still. It's starts with some well chosen music and the lighting of a candle to support my intentions for the day. Abundance need not be exclusive or elusive, but if there is some magic coming my way, I'm pretty sure it's coming from a source deep within.  Namaste dear ones.

Friday Photo Play

These are all works in progress, but the important thing for me was to progress beyond the stalling techniques - which I never run out of. Fortunately shame kicks in and I can finally force myself to sit down and stop darting around doing my A.D.D. thing. I'm always reminded of how much fun it is to give these vintage people some context. The dialogue or thoughts almost scream at you when the juxtaposition really works. Do something creative this weekend, and I will too. Cheers.

Kewpie Cutie

Those who know me well know that I love to procrastinate doing the thing I love. Usually, I spend too much time reading inspiring blogs. Witness this adorable ad for The Vintage Wren ..... I rest my case!
Yesterday I cleaned the house and arranged flowers for hours ..... still no art got made. The day is young, and before I decide to start studying spanish for my class tomorrow, please please send me some art making vibrations!

Thank YOU!

If you have clicked on a link, and landed here, I thank you for visiting. For those who have made intentional visits over the past year, you know what a treat it has been for me to connect with you through your kind comments and in most cases, your inspiring blog posts.
My real inspiration to start this blog in the first place came from my dear friend, Colette Copeland. For several years, I just read blogs as a relaxing and informative hobby but never made a comment until I realized what it meant to the writer to have that exchange. Colette's was among the first blogs that I tripped over, so to discover a few years later that she was almost a neighbour was sheer serendipity. I must thank her also for this adorable rubber stamp. She has not only rekindled my interest in using them, but insists on contributing to my addiction as well. Now that's the gift that keeps on giving!  Cheers dears.

Juicy Treats

Yes these are all recent purchases, and  all are gifts ....
I think. I am now smitten with the vintage look and feel of the collection - and this is probably last season's styles. If only outlets could offer good deals on the current season's merchandise, it would make the inconvenience of getting to outlet malls worth the effort.  Regardless, I was sent looking for a specific bauble, and felt like I had been living under a rock, when I laid my eyes on all the great bling they had to offer at crazy discounts. That's what I call 'shopping schwing!'

Silent Sunday

"Wherever you stand, be the SOUL of that place."  - Rumi

I sourced this Rumi treasure engraved on a silver bracelet from Urban Farmhouse - which I tripped over in what felt like the Land of Oz. Check out Ozma of Odds, and have a sunny Sunday my loves.

Sunny Saturday

The only other place I have lived that boasts over 300 days of sunshine a year is Colorado. The south west coast of Florida where we now spend our winters is known for it's great weather as well, so to accompany the vision of constant sunshine, I thought I would complete the experience by embedding an ocean sounding track. Simply click the play button on the first gadget at the top left. Take a deep breath, and escape for a minute. I LOVE having visitors! Cheers dears.

New Mantra - Old Mudra

Using this most familiar hand mudra helps any moment of silence and contemplation become a more meaningful exercise or ritual. To know that it symbolizes the connection you are making with the infinite wisdom of the universe, is to know that when you open your heart, you create a portal through which a higher frequency of positive energy may flow. Whether or not you seek a new mantra, my old one of
'lovingkindness' keeps me in alignment with my desired essence. Namaste friends.

Whether or not you choose to recalibrate your intention, or renew your commitment to current passions and pursuits, our similar energies of creativity and co-operation will  serve as encouragement and support for one another.
