Holiday Highlights

I have always loved decorating for the holidays and wrapping gifts. There is simply no wrong way to express one's creativity at this or any other time of the year. In between the family gatherings and kitchen duties, there were a few bursts of art making - during which time I decided to make several mini assemblage Christmas scenes using goodies from the local dollhouse store. Danielle won the gift wrapping award this year with her pom pom obsession and vintage peeps. The party's over at our house though and the Xmas tear down is as imminent as our travels.
May you and yours move forwards into the new year with peace in your hearts and an abundance of  good health and hearty laughter. I remain grateful for your visits to Zendoll Workshop, and all the support and encouragement I receive from your kind comments.
Namaste friends!

Wonderland

Source: hgtv.com via Robyn on Pinterest

With only two more sleeps until Christmas Day, the chance of waking up to this winter wonderland is slim to none - at least in southern Ontario. To get your fix, simply hold a vision of this scene in the back of your mind- along with the aroma of simmering cider laced with cinnamon. Merry Merry .... and to all a good night.

What the World needs Now ....

.... is LOVE

..... and since the world did  not end today, as the Mayan calendar had predicted, may there be a quantum healing effect for those in need at this time. May we one day be able to forgive the unconscionable deeds of the misunderstood perpetrators who have taken precious lives in recent days - and years. Surely the human race can do better than this!

The Stockings Were Hung ........

.... and who else but Rachel Ashwell could make a dreamy statement like this one - in a world of white on white? Admittedly, while my days are full of seasonal celebrations and preparations, there is very little art making until the last minute when the heavy lifting is done, and the muse wanders in to check up on my creative absence..... in the meantime however, I'm still wanting to share the creations of others that help to spread the magic of the season.

12 - 12 - 12

The last repeating date until the next century,  some are calling this the luckiest day that any of us may witness for a very long time. I would want to consult a numerologist to fully understand the significance of these particular numbers, but those born on the 12th are often charismatic, cheeky, bubbly and popular. They have unusual inner strength and self reliance, but remain fun-loving and are often musical. They seem to have the ability to reverse negative thoughts which helps them move forward to achieve goals and aspirations.

In addition to long lineups at wedding chapels today, Good Morning America mentioned that maternity wards are filled with pre-scheduled C-sections. Blessings to all, and may we all feel some of the magic of this most auspicious day.

In Process

Every year at this time, I challenge myself to come up with a Christmas project.  Whether it's a card, tag or ornament, I feel the need to put a new twist on an old theme, and make something I haven't tried before. Thanks to the Graphics Fairy, I have no shortage of vintage imagery, and I seem to be going in that direction ...... but, so far ..... nothing! I'm practically putting myself to sleep as I stare at my pile of inspiration, and shuffle it around - and to no avail. Apparently it takes a little more than simply wanting to make something ..... if you have any suggestions for waking up the muse or elves, please feel free to guide me through this temporary paralysis. Thank you my deers. xo

White Wednesday

I'm starting to dream in white on white ........

'Tis the Season

It's time to leave my mini studio in the so-called "sunny house", and head back up north, where winter weather and and the holiday season collide in the best possible way. If they culminate in a white Christmas, then all is well with my inner child. I consider a month away without my furry child, and all the other beloved family members to be long enough. I start longing for the proximity of same city visits and updates on all things grand and growing - as in our seven little dwarfs - soon to be off to university.
In addition to the usual holiday preparations I was able to accomplish down south, I managed to do some canning with tomatoes that came straight out of the fields near Palmetto- thanks to some generous friends in the business. The suitcases are full enough, but I'll try to fit in a few jars of this family favorite recipe - a sauce that is the perfect complement to turkey. Back to the packing and countdown - just one more sleep ....

Crystal Blue Persuasion. This chi charm simply evoked the title of an old song from another era. The polka dot bead is imported glass from one of the vendors at the Toronto Bead Society's semi-annual event - something I have missed now for the second year. Probably a good idea for me to start using up my rather impressive collection of beads, baubles and silver findings anyhow. Wishing you a creative day and week, and may we all be inspired by our collections of 'this and that'.

Silent Sunday

As words go, this one is charged with layers of meaning. Spirit. Sometimes thought of as a non-quantifiable energy that is synonymous with soul, courage and vigor. While our soul has the connotation of surviving bodily death, our spirit somehow takes on a different metaphysical meaning wherein there is an afterlife to one's personality traits or character - as in that of a ghost. This little chi charm connects us with native American spirit by virtue of the sterling feather, jade and turquoise - all of which are mainstays of south west culture as well. Wearing a piece like this is a reminder to respect our elders and remember where we came from.

Giving Thanks

As I write this, many of our American friends are sitting down to their much anticipated Thanksgiving dinner. To honor this day in my own Canadian way, I have purposely stayed close to home, and chosen activities that offered an optimal opportunity to be mindful. My long swim took place under a clear blue sky and was interrupted only by the sound of birds going about their business. With the assistance of my husband and two close friends who popped in at an integral moment in the preparation of a family recipe for holiday stewed tomatoes,  I am now enjoying the heavenly aroma of said sauce- infused with plenty of cloves and cinnamon. Once cooked, we are off to celebrate the day and the blessing it is to have the support and love of good friends and family. Cheers dears!

Tuesday From Thailand

Thanks to my travelling chef friend, George Mahaffey, I am blessed with a new series of Buddha photos. Now living in Thailand, George has the opportunity to drop into any number of temples that exist throughout the various provinces on a daily basis. Buddhas and temples seem to be as plentiful there as Starbucks are here. As Americans prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving, followed closely by Chanukah and Christmas in most of the rest of the world as well, I can't help but see the beauty in the daily celebration of kindness, respect and mindfulness. Adding a daily dose of gratitude makes for a life of abundance and grace.
Namaste friends.

Lucky Monday

While 'some people may have all the luck', it bears reminding yourself of the saying, that," the harder you work, the luckier you get." I made this little Chi Charm to remind the wearer that it's also OK to ask that the benevolent forces around you conspire on your behalf to send a little good luck your way as well.
Bonne chance mes amies!

Charmed by Chopra

This chi charm is brought to you by Deepak Chopra's commitment to each of the words you see engraved on this piece. I recently signed up for his 21 day  free meditation course, and by clicking on this link -  http://chopracentermeditation.com/login - maybe you can too. I like the way he shares his view of the 'field of all possibilities'. If anyone can guide us to this field where abundance is plentiful, it's Deepak Chopra. May we all learn to manifest what it is we desire the most ...... namaste fellow seekers.

Gratitude

This post is just one of many I have devoted to the observance of gratitude. Whether it's a fleeting thought or more of a practice, it is truly one of life's easier paths to transformation - if only momentary. Sometimes a moment of positive distraction is all it takes to move on from an oppressive train of thought.  This little bauble is both a gift for a friend, and a token of gratitude for that friendship. I am of course eternally grateful to all whom I consider my friends, and that of course extends to you. If you have taken a moment from your busy day to land on my humble blogspace, then I welcome you with heartfelt thanks!

Weekend Wisdom

This will be a weekend of change. From the anticipated fallout of a storm that threatens to be the most widely damaging to the eastern seaboard of the States in 100 years, to the dramatic shift of seasons in most of Canada. While Hurricane Sandy is scheduled to collide with the severe cold front that has now moved in, we must be adaptable to the energy shifts that result. This little Chi Charm is a reminder to rely on our innate intuitive wisdom as a grounding guide -  regardless of change. Speaking of which, my laptop precedes my arrival to the deep south this week. I plan to travel light when I fly, so I wish you and yours a cozy few days and a productive week to follow. Cheers dears.

In The Pink

This chi charm is from my personal collection, and those who know me well know my passion for pink. Not that I have to be all matchy matchy, but pink jewelry is hard to find, so I took the situation into my own hands and made some earrings and charms to go with summer outfits. The hamsa, or hand charm symbolizes the creator's hand, and while it offers protection, it is also thought to draw positive energy and abundance to the wearer. Wishing you a day and week of good chi!

Intuition Tuesday

Eagles represent power, courage and connection to spirit in native American culture. This little Chi charm is a nod to the world of spirit and a reminder that our best guide in life comes directly from within. It's name is Intuition, and it visits in the form of voice - the one who speaks so softly it compels you to listen.

Chi Charms

I created chi charms with the intention of helping the wearer tap into a deeper source of life energy, or "chi". This one features the 'evil eye', which has always been an amulet carrying protective properties and the ability to ward off evil. Crystals are one of the oldest known materials believed to enhance certain frequencies in our personal energy fields to aid in the manifestation of thoughts and intentions. This and the other new chi charms will arrive in my Etsy shop next week. Have a wonderful fall weekend my lovelies.

Charmed

I like to upcycle bits of old or new jewelry, so that certain favourite bits can be embellished and hooked on to different chains or charm clusters on other necklaces. The whimsical birdy came from Anthroplogy several years ago, and I wore it much more often than I had expected. When it broke, I decided to give it a new life as a charm. May your life be charmed as well dear blog reading buddy.

Update

As some of you may remember, I was in the hunt for a vintage typewriter. While the one I found isn't  as pretty or as pink as this beauty, it does work and the price was right ..... a mere $20. That's what I call shopping schwing!

The lotus is a symbol of rebirth, or a new beginning. This 14 inch, 14 k gold plate necklace is a delicate reminder that anything is possible. Nothing is out of reach - as long as you stay aligned with your intention, you can accomplish your goals and create change. Wear the words and symbols that mean the most to you. Hands Down!

Now this is hand eye co-ordination at its best!

Tuesday, October 9, 2012

I heart hearts, and many other shapes as well. Whether it's the inherent symbolism associated with certain images, or simply the shift in brain activity when a meaningful word, shape or colour comes into view, there is a pleasing sense that 'all is well.'
May it be so for you and yours as well.
