Buddha's Message of Light

"Be a light unto yourself"
It is said that these were the last words of Gautama Buddha before he closed his eyes on his final day more than 2,500 years ago. Whether folklore, mythology or fact, there is as much relevance to Buddha's message today as there always was. His sacrifice to attain enlightenment through hours, days and years of peaceful meditation is as inspiring as his commitment to impart his timeless message to all who would listen. What resonates most however is his conviction that the heaven we seek is within us. When we look within, we will see the light. We are the light that we seek.    Namaste.

  1. Beautifully written!! Sometimes we just need to be reminded that we don't need to look very far from ourselves to find what we are looking for. :)

  2. Glad I dropped by. Letting the little stuff eat me up...letting it stop me in my tracks.
I grew up hearing my Grandfather say, " I won't see anybody else today that I like better than myself." then he would plow forward in life. He was a hard headed German.
"Be a light unto yourself" sounds like a more peaceful path. thanks for the words.

  3. Yes.
It's like lighting a candle in the darkness, whether it's mine or someone else's.

Thanks so much taking time to stop by. Your comments are always appreciated. Namaste.
