In Your Dreams

If only the reality of travelling matched the supposed luxury and comfort this photo evokes. If travels are in your plans over the next few days, try to visualize yourself enjoying a massage or your favourite spa service while you wait in line or traffic dreading the impending process of getting from A to B. Keep calm and merry on.

My Vision

While I am holding a vision of peace and serenity in the hearts of all, I must also expand on my obsession for white on white while we enjoy yet another day of gently falling snow up here in the great white north.

Winter White

To celebrate our first snowfall of the season, a little white on white glam to get you thinking about saying goodbye to 2011 in style. May your hearts stay light and your choices be right.   Namaste.

Thursdays Thoughts on Menu Planning

Only three more sleeps until Christmas, and depending on your holiday ritual for celebrating with a family feast, the big meal could be Christmas Eve - or even sooner. Regardless, the upcoming  weekend will evolve entirely around food, friends and family.

I seldom prepare food more than one day in advance, but I use visualization to imagine what it is I want to see and taste for the big event. I can't remember the last time I followed a recipe, but I do love to collect them as inspiration. If the ingredients appeal, then I give it my own twist. For last weekend's family gathering, I ran across a recipe for a cornbread sausage stuffing, so in addition to two other traditional stuffings, I did one with spicy lamb sausages, cornbread and dried cherries. Now for the encore .....
A smaller group on Sunday gives me a chance to cook a smaller bird - so fresh capon it is. I 'm picturing a caramelized onion and wild mushroom ragout to accompany both traditional mashed and perhaps a ginger/papaya infused sweet potato smash. There's got to be one sassy taste surprise in there. I like to finish my brocoli on the grill - in fact, with weather like this, a bar-b-que vegetable medley makes perfect sense.

My passion runs out when it comes to making dessert, but we have two shortbread chefs in the family, and plenty of decadent truffles and squares.
Blessings to all, and to all a good night.

Zendoll Workshop

Ready, set, Go! You can never be too organized ..... Have you ever noticed that it takes forever to wrap those first few gifts? It's like trying to speak a foreign language - you grope to find all the right ingredients - including the right words for the tag. As I write this at the crack of way before dawn, it occurs to me that of all things in which to over-achieve, I've chosen gift wrapping! I'm really hoping it leads to bigger things, but for now - I'm on a mission.
Here's to world peace!

Angel Chicks

This time I used my sketch book as a kick start to get me in the mood for setting up my little Santa station for wrapping gifts, writing cards and celebrating the season. This exercise helps me 'trick' myself into being fully immersed and present for the task at hand. To complete the picture, imagine Michael Buble's new Christmas CD playing in the background. ( If I knew how to add the accent on the last 'e', I would.)
Blessings blogging buddies!

Frosty Friday

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas???

For about five minutes when the flurries were flying, but for now we'll have to settle for cold and damp.

Even Santa Rock is confused about the need for a winter coat. The look in his eyes assures me that he's willing to wear just about anything if there's a snack reward in it for him.
I just had to share a little yorkie love to get you through the weekend.

Cheers dears.

Deck the Halls

Today's the day! With a little inspiration from a recent visit to Anthropology, and a revisit of these display photos from last year, I'm off to find the perfect pine. If you happen to know how decorating the tree came to be known as ' trimming the tree', do let me know.
Cheers dears.

Tuesday's Thai Buddha

Thank you George Mahaffey for sharing these stunning Buddha images - each in a setting steeped in the colourful culture of a land I hope to visit one day. May all our hearts be full of the peace that each and every Buddha embodies and conveys.  Namaste.

Rainy days and Mondays

Time for the white stuff! Enough wet stuff already! My vintage peeps support me in my vision of sugar plums and the smell of sweet pine in my living room. It's just wrong to get the tree before there's a significant chill in the air. Regardless of your rituals at this time of year, may there be joy in your hearts, and may there be at least a few moments when 'all is calm..  and  ... all is bright.'    Namaste.

p i l o . c a

Last day and last chance to visit the One of a Kind Show this year. The Pilo people have been exhibiting for years, and their booth never fails to ignite a sense of wonder and admiration for the creative transformation they give to vintage linens. Final day tomorrow, Sunday, December 4. 10 - 6 pm.

Prize from Provence

Welcome to L'Atelier du Presbytere! Booth N14 - One of a Kind Show - Toronto 2011
If Danielle or I had to spend the night at the venue, this would surely be the place to provide
sweet dreams and visions of all things vintage linen. Each beautiful item is lovingly constructed
by a dear couple who courageously moved from Avignon in France to Montreal, Quebec so that
we could all benefit from one of the most authentic and dreamy shopping experiences at the entire show.
Bravo Francoise et Thierry. Joyeux Noel a tout le monde!

Inspired by Etsy

We just had to try our hand at making these adorable vintage ornaments inspired  by an Etsy shop I frequent - Modern Primitives. They're fast and they're fun - each with their own personality.

Thanks to Katie from Natural and Vintage, I'm taking this adorable shabby chic candelabra home to put in Danielle's booth at the One of a Kind Show in Toronto. She has created a wonderful winter cabin within the venue, so come in from the cold and visit us there.

The Spirit of Winter

Anthropology in Naples,  Florida has captured the spirit of the season in all it's woolly glory. They are featuring the most adorable miniature mitten sets as tree ornaments. From what I hear of the weather up north,  winter has launched its first attack of chilly air. I am preparing to transition from the humid 80's to the chilly 30's. Bring it on Mother Nature!
Blessings to all who are preparing to celebrate Thanksgiving 2011.

The Great Outdoors

Rain or shine -  hot or cold - a world exists outside - to complete what's going on inside.
The sights, sounds, smells and the feel of breathing deeply to soak it all in.
The ritual of stepping outside simply to be there and to be present - is the gift you can give yourself
Today and always.             Namaste friends.

Pocket Babies

Rocky, my yorkie takes his babysitting duties seriously. When my friend, Colette heard about my famous 'pocket baby' dreams, she dreamed up this precious keepsake to add to my dolly collection. Rocky seems to know just how special it is too. And how old am I you ask???

One of a Kind

My efforts to post my daughter, Danielle's e-vite to the upcoming One of a Kind show continue. Witness my most recent technical malfunction. Suffice to say, she is single-handedly producing over 100 gift sized mini collages in addition to some wonderful new large pieces. Please forgive this pixelated poster, and stay tune for the real deal.

Confessions of a Bag Lady

It's true, I have a hard time parting with any bag -  from the humble paper bag right up to the hobo bag. As it turns out, even these delicate tea bags have been recycled. Instead of holding loose tea, they now contain our holiday tags.

Look for these and other paper treats along with Danielle's new holiday collection of collages at Toronto's
One of a Kind Show.

Tuesday from Thailand

A whimsical Buddha from George's journey. George is our close family friend from Colorado. An award winning chef and philosopher funny man, he sends daily missives from his travels through Thailand.

Here's a wee taste of his poetic rhetoric on the road north to Nakon Phanom from Mukdahan:
He talks of temples, bones of Buddha and meals in night markets featuring roast pickled forest pig and sticky rice grilled in banana leaf.  Hmmm. The mind boggles.

Thank you George for your inspiration, and thank you to all who have checked to share in today's post.

Love, peace, and safe travels to all.

Ninnie Reunion

In my tribute to Lynne Whipple and her ninnie peeps last week, I had temporarily lost the image of my other rendition. I've decided to name our stoic dude Stan, and I'm not sure he's looking all that excited to be reunited with his two frumpy step sisters - Bunny and Bertha. Oh happy day!
