'Tis the Season

Ali Armstrong, the beautiful bride from last weekend enjoying a little warmup with some help from her father's dinner jacket. This weekend's wedding takes place outdoors and in tents again, but according to forecasts, some may need parkas by the end of the night. Rain or shine, there is no weather condition that could ever undermine the joy and celebration of the blessed union of two souls in matrimony. May the sun shine in the hearts of all.

Windswept

This tiny 5 X 7 inch collage was almost discarded so many times.  It just kept showing up like a bad smell, so that's when I decided it was time to rev up the sewing machine and try to rescue it from its demise. I put my pedal to the metal and sure enough, I gave it new life..... we now have a horse that looks more like a camel that found its way to a primitive blanket design.

Wishing Tree

The Wishing Tree was just one of the beautiful activities and features at a recent wedding I attended.  In keeping with the theme of acknowledging nature and the many beautiful bird
species that we coexist with, the reception tent was a dreamy vision of pastel coloured lanterns and candle lit tables that featured numerous vases of delicate white blossoms.

The bride and groom were especially thoughtful to consider the possibility of sore feet on the dance floor.

Each person's placement was identified with a tea stained vintage tag wrapped around a seed ball to take home to our own backyard birdies.

The collaboration and union of Ali and Eric is off to a brilliant start, and I congratulate them on creating and executing an exquisite event for all.         Love, thanks, and warmest wishes.

A Portal For your Thoughts

If you can accept the concept that thoughts carry a vibratory energy,
then the power of a group meditation would exponentially multiply the energetic response if alas, more than a few faithful buddies could discover my blog and read this simultaneously.

Perhaps the reason you are still reading this particular post is to be a part of  a promise I made to a dear friend who could really use the support of her fellow human beings to help manifest a resolution. I labelled her cause a "Revelation for River."

Thank you for indulging me this call to action and may all things go smoothly in honour of River.    Namaste.

This photo was taken near the continental divide in Colorado on the site of one of the bigger ghost towns in the area.

The Greatest Gift

Other than our beloved family members, our beloved pets are among the greatest gifts we humanoids treasure. As any pet lover will attest, the unconditional love and adulation of our furry friends provides years (hopefully) of calming, healing energy and companionship. If you agree, then you too are blessed.

Goddess in the Garden

Goddess mythology continues to be celebrated and studied and for good reason. Independent of culture and religion, goddesses have been known to honour their innate intuitive gifts and transformative powers to invoke healing and manifestation. Who doesn't want to be reminded of their source and essence for the purpose of self empowerment and transformation?

Bird in Thought

Are you an over-thinker? Perhaps you haven't thought about it much, but for those of us who get lost or over-wrought with thought.....it's NOT that it's a bad thing....it's just that when your mini thoughts are giving birth to baby thoughts - all the live long day.....you just may be exhausting yourself unnecessarily.
Just know there's an antidote. It's called having NO thoughts. Ironically it can seem harder than having too many. Also known as meditation, it's simply a skill, which when practiced can become as patterned as the habit of overthinking. Just a thought...

Hope Vessel

Prince Edward County is filled with treasures. Whether it's the Zen garden behind Blumen Garden Bistro, or this abandoned bird bath near the waterfront in Picton, the surroundings incite a state of calm for both mind and body. I posted this image because I remain fascinated by my own instant association with the idea that I had discovered a sacred blessing bowl that was there specifically to remind me of all for which I am grateful. Part of me wonders if there is a Buddhist or ancient native american ritual that includes a beautiful vessel and involves the spirit of nature and the gathering and manifestation of our hopes and dreams.  I welcome your version or documentation of such practices.  Namaste.

Zen, Sun and the Rain

In a Zen state of mind, even the mundane is a thing of wonder. So while it's a dark, rainy day here in Toronto, it's a wonderful change of pace, and somewhere the sun is shining and the sunflowers are taller than you. This one hails from Healdsburg, California - south and east of Mendocino.  Have a sunny day.

Advice From a Caterpillar

Creative inspiration is all around, but this week's most inspiring moments came while shopping in an adorable store called Advice From a Caterpillar. Located at 8 Price Street in Toronto, this beautifully designed and merchandised shop is a tapestry of  children's clothing, dolls, toys, jewelry, and must-have goodies that when mixed with just the right vintage piece, are simply breath-taking. Can't wait to get back and soak it all in again. Don't miss another dream store in the same building called The Narwhal!

Napa in late September

Thank you for indulging me an opportunity to share photos from  my travels while I put the finishing touches on my next series of collages. I was at the back of this group as we came out of one of the most elaborate root cellars at Leslie Rudd's vineyard in Napa Valley. Pure magic!

That's my daughter, Danielle helping out. The celebration continues with my beloved mother's
birthday tomorrow. We're off to Prince Edward County to help her celebrate and enjoy one of
Ontario's most beautiful destinations. A birthday dinner at Harvest and The Claremont Inn and Spa.

Labour Day 2010

What a difference a day makes. With the arrival of summer's last long weekend, a welcomed 25 degree temperature drop and a big north wind have reminded us that fall is in the air.

Borrowing cute rubber stamps from my art buddy,
Colette, reminds me of how much fun it is to give yourself permission just to play.

May your long weekend be safe and memorable!

Innocence

Meet Fiona. Look into her eyes and capture, if only for a split second,  the visual definition of the word 'innocence'.
Other than the completely random name, Fiona, that is the only word that intuitively surfaced
for me when I selected this photo from my collection of adopted vintage people.
